Now – Oct 31st - The Athens North Pole Stroll tree sponsors are being accepted now at the Athens-Limestone Visitors Center (100 North Beaty Street in Athens)! Athens North Pole Stroll is a display of live cut Christmas Trees located in the Big Spring Memorial Park (AKA ‘the Duck Pond’) in the Historic Beaty District. Lowe's of Athens has made 7’ trees available for Athens-Limestone County Tourism to sponsor to businesses, organizations, churches, schools, individuals and families for $100.00 each.  Athens City Parks and Recreation Department will have the trees standing and awaiting the decorators. This holiday event offers organizations, businesses, churches, families and individuals who sponsor trees great fun coming up with their own special theme.  Make plans to bring family and friends to visit the park during this grand event (More details to come). Request your tree now, deadline is Oct 31st 2017!

Oct 9th -- Reformation 500: Luther and Politics lecture with Professor David Whitford of Baylor University in the auditorium of McCandless Hall (300 North Beaty Street in Athens) starting at 6:00PM.

Oct 10th -- Swamp John's Dinner with Behind the Badge at the Athens Police Department Courtroom (951 East Hobbs Street in Athens) from 4:00PM-7:00PM. $10.00 plates include drink and choice of fish, shrimp or chicken. Tickets available at the Athens Police Department or with any officer.

Oct 10th and 12th -– Haunt Walk Athens-Limestone County Tourism will have their second week of the popular ‘Haunts Walks’. Reservations are being accepted for Tuesday or Thursday night walks. Tickets are $5 per person. Contact the Tourism Office at 256-232-5411 for reservations.

Oct 13th -- 3rd Annual Aim for Advocacy with the National Children's Advocacy Center at the Limestone Hunting Preserve and Sporting Clays (28755 Coggins Road in Ardmore, AL) from 8:00AM-4:00PM. Two flight options: 8:00AM or 1:00PM.

Oct 13th -- DownSouth at Hard Dock Cafe (3755 U.S. Highway 31 North on the Tennessee River Causeway) starting at 9:00PM.

Oct 13th & 14th -- The Haunted Lester Hospital (30338 Lester Road in Lester) with tours from 7:00PM-11:00PM. Strange things happen in the old Lester Hospital -- blood curdling screams, sightings of the undead, and other unworldly apparitions -- and they're saving a bed for you. Admission: $10.00.

Oct 13th & 14th -- Doomsday at Dog Days (Dog Day Flea Market Grounds 30444 Gowan Road in Ardmore, TN) with tickets sales 7:00PM-11:00PM and attraction open 7:30PM. Try not to get lost in the haunted woods and maze or stop an alien invasion with arcade-style, glow-in-the dark paintball shootout. Haunted Woods & Maze: $18.00 per person; Alien Invasion Paintball: $13.00 per person or enjoy both for $25.00. Fast pass available for an additional $10.00 each.

Oct 14th -- Special Fall Market ​Join the Athens Saturday Market (409 West Green Street in Athens) from 8:00AM-12:00PM for this special Fall Market.

Oct 14th -- Viniyoga: Moving Breath with Jaime Ortega at UpDog Yoga Center (111A North Jefferson Street in Athens) from 2:00PM-4:00PM. Jaime Ortega is a movement based artist, therapist and educator who lives and works in NYC. He is visiting the area and offering one public class in the Krishnamacharya/Desikachar tradition. The practice of Viniyoga helps develop strength, flexibility and resilience in all areas of our lives, while nourishing a deeper sense of well being and serenity. The class incorporates traditional tools of yoga, such as asana, pranayama, chanting, and meditation. $20.00 per person (cash only)

Oct 15th -- Winter Series 2017 with 2-S Arena (26155 Thach Road in Athens; off I-65 Exit 361). Exhibition Barrels 12:00PM to 2:30PM and show starts after 3:00PM. Schedule: Exhibition Barrels, $5.00 each; 3D 6 & Under Barrels, $10.00 each; 3D Pee Wee (12&under), $10.00 each; 4D Open Barrels, $25.00 each; 3D Youth Barrels, $20.00 each; 3D Adult Barrels, $20.00; 3D Poles, $15.00. Oct 16th -- Spirit Night for ALH Women's Health Fund with Village Pizza (222 West Market Street in Athens) from 11:00AM-9:00PM. Apple Annie host this dine-in, carry-out, delivery Spirit Night that benefits the Athens-Limestone Hospital Women's Health Fund. A portion of the proceeds of the days sales will be donated by Village pizza.

Oct 19th -- SOLD OUT -- The Cadillacs at Yesterday's Senior Lunch Matinee Show at 15631 Brownsferry Road in Athens. All seating is reserved - $12.00 each, groups are seated together, doors open 10:30am, events start at 11AM with seating, opening announcements, blessing, and lunch, with show beginning about 12 noon.(About 1 hour show) They have bus parking available, e-mail reservations are required.

Oct 20th -- ARToberfest with High Cotton Arts (103 West Washington Street in Athens) from 6:00PM-9:00PM. Enjoy beverages, brats and brushes to the sounds of The Little German Band of Huntsville.

Oct 20th -- Shoot 4 Shelter Sporting Clay Tournament with Downtown Rescue Mission at Limestone Hunting Preserve and Sporting Clays (28755 Coggins Road in Ardmore, AL) from 8:00AM-11:00AM. The clay shoot will provide multiple challenging stations and fun games. The morning’s activities will start with a continental breakfast and door prize opportunities. The cotton drop game, awards, and prizes will accompany lunch.

Oct 24th -- Night of the Bands at East Limestone High School (15641 East Limestone Road in East Limestone) starting at 6:30PM. Come enjoy the marching bands of Limestone County - Ardmore, Clements, East Limestone, Elkmont, Tanner and West Limestone - and the Rocketeers Drum and Bugle Corps. Tickets available at Chick-Fil-A of Athens, Village Pizza of East Limestone. $5.00 each.

Join us for 2017 ABCNA Casino Night on Thursday, Oct. 26 at Redstone Harley-Davidson! The football/tailgating themed event will include a free hamburger/hotdog sack lunch, info/goodies from 20-30 vendor booths, door prizes, stage performances, and BINGO for area senior citizens.

Oct 28th -- Pride of Athens Marching Invitational at Athens Stadium (100 U.S. Highway 31N in Athens) from 3:00PM-10:00PM. This annual Marching Band Contest will feature regional High School Marching Bands and an exhibition of the Golden Eagle Marching Band and the UNA "Pride of Dixie" Marching Band. Open to the public.
