Oct 22nd -- 12th Annual Rails to Trails 10K  Elkmont Church of Christ 18890 Upper Fort Hampton Road Elkmont, AL. US  Join the Elkmont High School Cross Country/Track & Field Teams on this certified course (AL 06026JD).  The course will wind north on  Veto Road for approximately 3 miles before heading south on the old L&N Railroad and finishing in downtown Elkmont.  The 10K will start promptly at 8:00AM and the 1-Mile Fun Run will start promptly at 9:30AM. Oct. 24th --  Calhoun Community College's 16th Annual Writer's Conference Has the art of conversation become lost?  Find out how one-on-one conversation has changed in the digital age. The conference will be held in two sessions - 9:30am at Calhoun's Health Sciences Building, Decatur Campus, and at 7:00pm at the Alabama Center for the Arts, Second Avenue Theatre in downtown Decatur.
