Athens Fire
and Rescue Station No. 1
is in possession of a mysterious guitar
Someone left the
custom made electric guitar at the station on
Monday night with a note thanking the department
for all it does for the community. The note was
not signed. Surveillance footage shows a man in
a white car leaving a package, but the footage
of the man is not good enough to identify him.
Firefighters found the package Tuesday morning.
Firefighter Tommy Lewis has played the guitar,
which is cut in the shape of the department’s
emblem. Lewis said it is a well made guitar and
has a good sound.
Deputy Fire Chief Bryan Thornton said the guitar
will remain at Station 1 at Washington and Hine
streets. He said the firefighters would like to
thank the man who made the guitar if they could
find out his identity.
